Adaptation

Adaptation is a skill that all animals know, but some are just better at it than others. Adaptation refers to the process of an organism changing itself to make it better suited for its habitat to ensure survival. Adaptation can come in several forms. Here are some forms that you may not know: communal living, hibernation, migration, camouflage, and even hair (fur)! For example, a toad living on the forest floor would want a barely noticeable skin that camouflages it into its surroundings, on the contrary, a monarch butterfly would prefer bright colors to signal predators that its poisonous and not to be eaten. And finally, hair is a very important adaptation because it keeps animals warm. A yak on the cold mountain tops would need a lot of fur to keep itself warm, much like how polar bears and other tundra animals use fat (blubber) to stay warm.

Here's a fun little video about adaptation↴
